Beginning this month, Twitter will be removing legacy verified checkmarks in an effort to retire the legacy verified program. Individuals will have to sign up for Twitter Blue to keep their blue checkmark.
The introduction of Twitter Blue leaves verified users with an important decision: lose their verified status or pay a monthly fee of $8 to keep their verified status.
In addition to the verified blue checkmark, Twitter Blue comes with additional benefits making it a great option for users who are looking to reach a larger in-app audience. These benefits include:
- Participate in Twitter polls
- Ability to edit tweets
- Upload longer videos
- Write longer tweets
- Access priority display in tweet reply changes
- Only tweets from verified accounts will appear in you ‘For You’ feed
There are currently three verification options:
- Blue checkmark for individuals
- Gold checkmarks for Organizations
- Gray checkmarks for Government Organizations
