FAQ: “Why Can’t I Negotiate My Rate?”

Hey creator community~

Have you ever wondered why you are unable to negotiate your rate on certain campaigns? That’s because some campaigns have fixed rates set in place!

Unfortunately, for these campaigns, we won’t be able to accept negotiations, even if we really want to! So if you’re not satisfied with the rate, no worries~ Just wait and apply for a later campaign that better fits your needs! There will always be other opportunities so be sure to keep an eye out on the Creator Portal so you don’t miss out.

This Monday, People First finally made the transition from Stripes to Dots!

All creators should make their way to the Creator Portal and update their payment information. Simply head over to your Profile > Payout Center. From there, you’ll receive a text to your phone with your OTP verification code. Enter this, and from there you can select your preferred “Payment Destination,” including PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, or a direct deposit into a Bank Account.

Note: though every creator is encouraged to update their payment information, those who are currently participating in a campaign or waiting for a payment MUST select a new Payment Destination!

January 2024 Creator Portal Updates

To start the new year off strong, we gathered recommendations and suggestions from our creators and our DROs on how to improve the Creator Portal.

So if you missed the January Newsletter, here is everything you need to know about the latest Creator Portal updates:

  • Goodbye Stripe, Hello Dots – People First is transitioning from Stripe to Dots as our newest payment platform. Not only will Dots make it easier than ever for our creators to receive payment, it will also provide additional options to receive payment, including Venmo, Cash App, or a direct deposit into your bank account. Verify your Dots account by heading over to the Payout Center in your Creator Portal account and type in the verification code that will be sent to your phone.
  • Pre-application Chat – Creators will now be able to chat with a People First representative prior to applying to campaign! This will create a more efficient and  seamless experience where creators will be able to ask preliminary questions campaign details, requirements, and rates before taking the time to apply. The chat box can be found in the bottom right corner of your Creator Portal screen.
  • Passions & Interests – To better tailor campaigns to our diverse and niche creators, our campaigns will not come with tags that indicate what the project is about and/or what types of creators we are seeking. Be sure to update your settings with you Passions and Interests to ensure you get personalized recommendations!

These are just some of the improvements that we made to the Creator Portal this new year. If you have any suggestions, feel free to reach out to us via Instagram, Facebook, or Email! Creator Tip: Authenticate Your Facebook Account

Hey there Creator Community,

Are you looking for more ways to get involved with future paid partnership opportunities with People First?

Here’s an insider tip for you – as the 2024 election nears, we’ll be needing more creators, like yourselves, to spread important campaign messages, so be sure to authenticate your Facebook account to have “priority” for future political campaigns~

We are prioritizing accepting applications from individuals whose’ Facebook accounts are authenticated so that we can whitelist the posts, which will benefit both the creator and our campaigns!

If you’re interested in authenticating your Facebook, follow the instructions below:

  1. Log In & Head to Settings: Go to Facebook and log in to your account or create a new account. Once you’re in, click on the small circle with your profile picture in the top right corner, choose “Settings & Privacy,” and then click on Settings.
  2. Find Account Settings: In the settings page, choose “Account Settings” from the left-hand menu.
  3. Confirm Your Identity: Be sure you are in the “General” section then click the “View” button next to “Identity Confirmation”.
  4. Set Up Two-Factor Authentication: Under the “Secure Your Account with Two-Factor Authentication” section, click “Next” and then select your preferred security method.
  1. Follow the Given Instructions: Depending on which security method you chose, you will be asked to follow instructions to set up two-factor authentication. Choose the settings you prefer and click “next”.

Note: You will be required to keep two-factor authentication on at all times. Turning off two-factor authentication will cause you to lose your ad authorization which will make you ineligible to run ads about social issues, elections, and politics. Additionally, all previous disclaimers and active ads you created will be paused. So be sure to keep two-factor authentication on!

  1. Verify Your Location: Under the “Your Primary Country Location” section, click “Confirm Primary Location.” Next, in the “Enter Mailing Address Section,” enter your information into the fields and click “Send.”

Note: You will receive a confirmation email stating that a letter will be sent to your mailing address that will contain a verification code.

  1. Verify Your Identity: Once you receive your the letter, enter the verification code in the designated area on the “Identity Authentication” page. You will then be asked to select the type of identification you’d prefer to use, such as a US drivers liscense, state ID card, or passport and upload a picture of said identification.

ID Requrements…

  • Your ID must be from the country where you want to run ads, and the name of that country must appear on your ID.
  • If your ID has an expiration date, the ID must not be expired.
  • Accepted ID types differ by country. Check which forms of identification are accepted in the country you wish to run ads.

Additionally, be sure that the photo you upload shows all 4 corners, is laid flat, is clear and focused, and has a dark background.

  1. Wait it Out: While the photo ID will be approved or denied in minutes, it may take longer to verify your account.

Note: You may be asked to answer several questions to further verify your identity.

Click “Finish” to complete the authentication process.

  1. Check Your Email: Upon verification, Facebook will send a verification email to the email account associated with your Facebook account.

For more information, click here to check out Facebook’s step-by-step guide for confirming you identity.

After your authenticate your Facebook account, you are ready to start creating amazing posts that we can whitelist to further spread campaign messages!

    • The Creator must use the content as specified or approved by People First or the Sponsor.
    • The Creator acknowledges that the Sponsor owns the above-mentioned materials and any use doesn’t grant ownership rights.
    • The Creator cannot dispute the Sponsor’s ownership of the above-mentioned materials.
  2. Ownership Rights: The Parties will agree upon one of the ownership options below which will be specified in the SOW. If not specified, “Option 1” will be applied. Additionally, if the SOW does not mention the duration of the Sponsor’s right to use the content, it’s automatically set at twelve (12) months.

Ownership Option 1 – Standard and Paid Social

  • Ownership of Content: The Creator will have complete and permanent ownership of all intellectual property rights related to the Content, except for any Advertiser Works included in it.
  • Licenses to Content:

The Sponsor can also repost the content through sponsored posts on the Sponsor’s Social Media Channels and websites and must give credit to the Influencer when reposting. Additionally, the Sponsor can use the content during the allowed posting period, for internal purposes, and in reviews related to the Sponsor’s products or services. This right is global, long-lasting, and does not require payment.
    • The Creator agrees to allow the Company to use their Content, including their name and likeness, for marketing purposes; including, the Company’s Social Media Channels and other platforms chosen by the Company, such as websites, publications, emails, and brochures. The permission is global, long-lasting, and doesn’t require payment.

Ownership Option 2 – White Listing and Digital

    • The Creator agrees to allow the Company to use their Content, including their name and likeness, for marketing purposes; including, the Company’s Social Media Channels and other platforms chosen by the Company, such as websites, publications, emails, and brochures. The permission is global, long-lasting, and doesn’t require payment.

Ownership Option 3 – Work for Hire

  • Ownership of Content: The Creator acknowledges and agrees that any content or creative work they produce for the Sponsor during the Services or Campaign belongs exclusively to the Sponsor. This includes, but is not limited to, notes, records, drawings, designs, inventions, improvements, developments, discoveries, trade secrets, and other related materials. The work product is to be considered “work made for hire,” made specifically for the Sponsor’s benefit. If any work product is not considered so, the Creator must give up all rights to the Sponsor without further compensation. The Creator is expected to help the Sponsor protect these rights and confirm that they have obtained all necessary permissions from their team to assign ownership.
  1. License to Work Product: During the duration of the Agreement, People First allows the Influencer to use the Work Product for the Services and Campaign, but it must be reviewed and approved by the Advertiser. After the Agreement ends, the Creator must stop using the Work Product. However, the Creator can continue using it in the way originally featured for a specific period, and for internal purposes. Additionally, if the Creator produces copyrighted materials that are included in the Work Product, prior to the beginning of the campaign, they must grant People First and the Sponsor all rights to use, modify, and distribute the content.
  2. Third Paty Licenses: The Creator is responsible for getting necessary licenses and permissions from third parties for any content they include in their work. This includes obtaining authorization from individuals who appear in the content and granting People First and the Sponsor the rights to use their name, likeness, and other information. If requested, the Creator must be able to provide proof.

Understanding People First’s Influencer Terms of Use [Part I]

Be honest… have you read through People First’s Influencer Terms of Use?

We would not be surprised if you haven’t! Although every Creator Portal user is required to agree to our Influencer Terms of Use when creating an account, it’s no secret that people skim—or even skip—the Terms of Use upon encountering the text.

However, we believe that it is important for each and every one of our creators to know the Terms and Conditions they are accepting when participating in a paid partnership opportunity.

Here is a brief rundown of the terms you are agreeing to be bound by when working on a campaign with People First…

  1. Scope(s) of Work:
    • People First is responsible for defining the project and its work requirements before accepting participants to a project.
    • Creators should be aware of the kind of content they are being asked to create (Video vs. Static), the amount of content they are being asked to produce, where the content will be published, (e.g, Instagram, TikTok, Youtube), and a set rate for the partnership before drafting content for a campaign.
  2. Development and Approval of Content:
    • Creators are responsible for submitting all content materials (videos, photographs, captions, etc.) for approval prior to posting. If People First or its Sponsors request/require any edits to the content materials, the Creator must incorporate such edits and resubmit their content materials for final approval.
    • Deadlines for submissions, resubmissions, and dates for publishing are subject to change and People First is committed to being flexible where possible.
    • People First is also committed to ensuring that Sponsors provide constructive feedback on Creator submissions, so that no more than 2 rounds of revisions are necessary.
    • If the Creator posts content without approval, People First has the option to terminate the Agreement, require the Creator to remove or archive the post, and/or reduce compensation. Failure to remove content that was published without approval may result in account suspension.
    • If the Creator makes suitable edits according to People First or the sponsor’s request, but the Content is still not approved for publication, the Agreement and/or SOW may be determined with notice. In this case, the Influencer is entitled to a termination fee of 20% of the total compensation for the time and effort that went into their submission.
    • Additionally, the Sponsor may require Creators to make ongoing reservations to the content (assuming new information becomes available that disproves previous statements).
  3. Objectionable Content:
    • Under no circumstances are Creators asked or encouraged to make false or misleading claims about our Sponsors or any of their products and services.
    • Under no circumstances are Creators permitted to create or post any content that is illegal, obscene, or harmful for the reputation of People First, our Sponsors, or any of their respectives products or services.
    • In other words, all content must be truthful, accurate, and appropriate. Otherwise, People First has the right to terminate the agreement and/or sue the Creator for damages.
  4. Exclusivity:
    • Under no circumstances are Creators permitted to mention or promote any other brands or trademarks in their content except for those associated with the Sponsor.
    • Creators may only tag the Sponsor’s pages and social media handles on any posts that include the specified content.
    • Creators are permitted to promote other brands during the course of the campaign, unless otherwise agreed upon.
  5. Influencer Representations and Warranties:
    • The Creator agrees to submit content that adheres to the campaign’s guidelines & requirements. Submissions that do not align with the campaign’s objectives will not be accepted or eligible for a termination fee.
    • The Creator agrees to follow all applicable laws and regulations, including those set forth by Social Media Channels. This includes complying with their terms of use and privacy policies.
    • The Creator agrees to having all the necessary permissions to create the content for the campaign, and that the content does not violate any else’s intellectual property rights, copyright infringements, or trademark laws.
    • All Creators must be 18 years of age or older and must be able to provide proof if requested by People First.
    • All Creators agree that they will not do anything to artificially increase their follower count or engagement on social media (i.e. purchasing fraudulent followers or likes). Failure to comply may result in account suspension.
  6. Compensation: Upon completion of the agreed-upon Services and Campaigns, People First will pay the Creator as specified in the Agreement in accordance to the following terms…
    • Payment can only be initiated after the approved assets have been posted & the link to the deliverable(s) has been published to the Creator Portal.
    • Payments made to participants are issued via Stripe.
    • Creators are responsible for maintaining and updating their payment information as needed on their Stripe dashboard.
    • Payment to Creators is due within 10-15 business days following the publication of all the approved assets.
    • If the Creator fails to claim or request payment on or before 180 days after completion of the Campaign it may result in a forfeiture of payment.

Alternative Compensation Routes:

  • Very rarely does People First grant exceptions for alternative payment routes. It is with safety and security in mind that we use Stripe wherever possible.
  • ACH payments can be made possible to Creators that are being represented by an agent or agency. An invoice and W8/W9 are required in order to process the payment within 30 days.
  • PayPal payments can be made possible to International Creators after 10-15 days following the publication date.
  1. Term: Termination
    • Term: The Agreement between People First and the Creator is effective immediately following application approval and remains in effect until the Campaign has officially concluded.
    • Termination: People First can terminate the Agreement for any of the following reasons:
      1. Immediately, with notice to the Creator, if the Agreement with the Sponsor is terminated.
      2. If the Creator violates Sections 3 or 5 of the Agreement AND fails to fix/remedy the violation within 24 hours.
      3. Immediately, with notice to the Creator, if the Creator or relevant parties engage in actions causing significant negative publicity, scandal, or disrepute.
    • Termination Fees: If People First or one of its Sponsors terminates the Agreement or SOW, People First will compensate the Creator 20% of the total compensation for their time & effort. This fee only applies to Creators that submitted content for review, but were rejected by the Sponsor to participate in the campaign.

You can simply skip this step and continue using People First by connecting your TikTok account. However, keep in mind that connecting your Instagram account can help you access more opportunities for partnerships and growth as an influencer.

I’m still having trouble connecting my Instagram or TikTok account

If you’re still having trouble, you can reach out to our support team for assistance. We’re online from 9am – 5pm ET at creators.peoplefirst.cc with the use of our chatbox. If you’re on mobile, you’re welcome to shoot us an email at [email protected] and we’ll be in touch with you as soon as possible.

Creator Portal Version 2.0 Launch Coming Soon!

Great news, creators! You’ve asked and we’ve listened. Over the past several months the People First team has been working with our network of creators to review your feedback and bring about big changes to the Creator Portal.

The time has come, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring to our community the newest version of the Creator Portal, coming out in just a few weeks…

Here’s what you can expect to see:

Tell us your Passions & Interests:

  • This feature will allow new AND existing users to tell us about their Passions and Interests. Select up to 5 interests so that we can get a sense of which campaign opportunities would be a fit for you. We’ll use this information to tailor your notifications, so that you hear right away when a campaign that aligns with your interests is added to the Creator Portal.

Sign In with your Socials:

  • One of the largest changes coming to the Creator Portal will require ALL users to login with one their existing social media accounts (ex. Google, Instagram, TikTok, etc.) Why? This connection will allow for a more secure sign-in procedure. Additionally, the social connection integration provides People First with more insight into your social media’s profile analytics, which in turn allows People First to offer more competitive rates.

Applying to Campaigns Just Got Easier:

  • The newest version of the Creator Portal will help provide a seamless application experience. We will transition from separating campaign applications into “Image” and “Video.” Instead, users should select their desired campaign, toggle between their desired content type, and indicate the platform they intend to go live on. What’s more is that we’re offering more opportunities to create — beyond just Instagram and TikTok content. We’re encouraging all users to apply to campaigns with any of preferred social media platforms, whether that be Twitter, Snapchat, LinkedIn, Youtube, or Pinterest!

Application Justification

  • Are you the perfect candidate for a campaign & would like us to know? Some campaigns on the Creator Portal will come equipped with an Application Justification section, so that you can briefly explain to us why your story will make for a great contribution to the campaign. Additionally, there may be additional fields to check-off before applying, so that our team can confirm aspects about your background before bringing you into the campaign.

Apply & Re-Apply!

  • Did you come across a campaign that you loved participating in? If so, we’re allowing users the ability to re-apply to campaigns. Here, you can make additional pieces of content, or submit your original post to go live on a different social media platform. Please note this feature may not be enabled across all campaigns.

SMS notifications

  • Having trouble knowing when there’s an update regarding one of your campaigns? We know that emails get lost and that communication on different collaborations can be tricky. That’s why we’re dedicated to getting important information in front of you as soon as possible, which is why we’re turning on SMS notifications! Yes, users will receive a text message when there’s been an update regarding your application or submission. To update your notification settings, head over to your Profile to adjust your Settings to receive notifications via SMS.

Questions about these changes? Feel free to speak to a People First Representative on the Creator Portal, using the chat feature on the bottom right corner!

We appreciate your patience with us, as we value your honest feedback & our always at work to improve our user experience.

FAQ: Campaign Application

I recently heard about a campaign that I want to apply to, but I don’t see it listed on the Campaigns page. Why doesn’t it appear?

Certain campaigns on the Creator Portal may not be visible to everyone. The reason for this is because the campaign sponsor may be limiting the applicant pool to those that belong to a specific state or region, age, race, or gender.

I believe I’m a fit for the campaign, yet I’m still experiencing issues regarding my application. Who can I speak to regarding this issue?

If you have concerns about your application, please contact a People First Representative.

I applied to a campaign and was rejected. Why?

Being rejected is hard, but don’t take it personally! Oftentimes, users are rejected from campaigns because the sponsor is looking for users from a specific demographic, or that make certain types of content. People First is unable to partner with users that have explicit content on their account, use crude humor, or make content that is not agreeable with our campaign sponsor. Additionally, the Creator Portal flags users to us that have a large percentage of inauthentic followers and/or engagements. It’s important to People First and our sponsors that our creators maintain genuine followings. Please keep in mind that being rejected from a campaign is not a sign that you should not apply to more!

I have been rejected from several campaigns. Why?

If you have found that you are being rejected from several campaigns, it’s possible that there is an issue related to your profile. People First is unable to partner with users that have explicit content on their account, use crude humor, or make content that is not agreeable with our campaign sponsor. Additionally, the Creator Portal flags users to us that have a large percentage of inauthentic followers and/or engagements. It’s important to People First and our sponsors that our users maintain genuine followings.

I am no longer interested in the campaign that I applied/approved to. What should I do?

If you applied to a campaign, but later decided it is not a match, users have the option to cancel their participation. To do this, click the campaign tile. Under “Application Under Review” you will see the option to hit “Cancel Participation”.

I’m having trouble applying to a campaign. Why?

The Creator Portal limits users to 8 pending applications at one time. In other words, if you recently applied to 8 campaigns, you won’t be able to apply to more until you have been approved/rejected from at least one.

I haven’t applied to 8 campaigns but still unable to apply. Why?

Certain campaigns on the Creator Portal are not visible to everyone. The reason for this is because the campaign may be sourcing creators that live within a specific state or region, or belong to a specific age group. Additionally, some campaigns may only be interested in working with creators that are of certain gender, race, or ethnicity.

I accidentally withdrew my application from a campaign. How can I reapply?

To re-apply to a campaign, go to the “Campaigns” page and click the “History” tab. Here you will see the option to re-apply to a campaign. Users are unable to re-apply to campaigns that they were previously rejected for.

FAQ: General Assistance

While browsing the People First Creator Portal, general questions regarding the Creator Portal experience may arise. Below are common questions we receive regarding general assistance.

What is People First?

  • People First is a digital marketing agency that specializes in micro-influencer recruitment. In other words, our agency recruits everyday social media users to participate in impactful campaign opportunities online. Our agency partners with a variety of different sponsors, ranging from political advocacy groups, to nonprofit organizations, to well-known commercial brands. Our job is to find trusted messengers and invite you to share your stories in contribution to the campaign

Why does People First specialize in microinfluencers?

  • People First understands that when it comes to information, people these days often refer to their peers for advice, guidance, and recommendations. Hence why so many well-known commercial brands, political advocacy groups, and nonprofit organizations look to People First and our community to help spread the word when it comes to advocating for or against key causes, issues, and candidates.

What is the Creator Portal?

  • The Creator Portal is People First’s one-stop shop for users interested in participating in paid social media opportunities. Browse our complete selection of available partnerships, apply to those that you see fit, and submit your drafted content — all in one place! Once you’ve submitted your draft content, you can chat with a People First representative regarding your submission and we will provide 1:1 feedback to help you improve your content. If everything looks great, your submission is sent to our sponsor(s) for final approval. Once we’ve received the green light, we’ll provide all of the instructions for posting on your preferred social media account. Once you’ve successfully completed the partnership, you can expect to receive payment within 10-15 business days after sharing the link to your live content.

What are the requirements for applying to a campaign on the Creator Portal?

  • People First tends to partner with users that have at least 1,000 followers on their preferred social media platform; however, this requirement can vary slightly depending on the campaign. Additionally, we like to see that you maintain a strong number of genuine engagements with each of your posts. Lastly, users that apply to our campaigns must be willing to set their preferred social media account(s) to public, so that we can review your profile and gauge the performance of the campaign.

What are the requirements after publishing content with the Creator Portal?

Users that partner with People First on any of our paid partnership opportunities are required to:

  • Ensure their social media account(s) is set to public.
  • Disable the “Hide Like” or “Restrict Comments” feature on their post with People First.
  • Keep their content live and shareable on their social media account for a minimum duration of 1 year, unless otherwise previously agreed upon. Those that fail to comply with these 3 requirements are likely to experience payment delays. For more information on our terms and conditions, see here.

Please note this list is not campaign-specific, as there may be additional posting requirements for each individual campaign. These directions will be sent to users upon content approval.

I am not based in the United States, do I still qualify to apply to campaigns at People First?

  • Unfortunately, People First is only able to partner with users that are based in the U.S.. Users located outside of the U.S. are likely to receive campaign rejections and/or payment delays.

How do I refer someone to the Creator Portal?

  • People First is constantly looking to partner with your friends and family to join our campaigns. What’s more is that you’ll get paid for helping us grow! If you know something that may be a good fit for one of our partnerships, go to My Profile and select “Referral Dashboard.” Here, a custom referral link will be generated, which can be shared across your group chats, Facebook groups, or any other communities that you’re apart of. There is no limit to how many referrals you can submit, so use this tool to make some extra cash!

How do I receive the referral bonus?

  • If you’ve invited someone to join the Creator Portal using your custom referral link, you’ll be compensated when your referee participates in their first campaign! Your bonus will be automatically transferred to your Payout Center within 10-15 days after your referee has published their live content.

What is a Pre-Apply Campaign?

  • After People First has launched a new campaign, we will make the opportunity visible on the Creator Portal. Please note that wait times for approval can typically last longer, but those that pre-apply will be the first to considered for the opportunity. You’ll receive notice via email or SMS if your application was approved and we’re ready for you to review the campaign’s creative guidelines & requirements.

How do I reset my password?

  • If you’d like to change your password, select the settings in the drop down menu under your profile avatar. Choose password and enter your current password & new password.

How do I delete my account?

If you have a question regarding account deletion, you should email [email protected] to speak with a member of our team.

How can I improve my profile to be accepted to more campaigns?

  • People First partners with a wide variety of well-known commercial brands, nonprofit organizations, and political advocacy groups that wish to partner with everyday social media users. We believe that you know your audience best, and can speak on behalf of certain causes, issues, or candidates like no other. The best partners for our campaigns are those that have a true authentic following, contain a high ratio of organic content, and space out paid partnerships on your profile. We value micro-influencers and offer competitive rates no matter your following size!

Are there additional paid opportunities on the Creator Portal?

  • Yes! People First works with thousands of talented individuals, and we may seek your help to create content for use outside our paid partnership opportunities. Alternatively, we may invite users to participate in paid surveys and focus groups. Keep an eye on your email for these opportunities, as they tend to fill up quickly.

I am an agent and would like to represent my talent on the Creator Portal.

Currently we do not have a separate login feature for agents or agencies to upload their talent rosters to the Creator Portal. If you would like to submit your clients for review, we will happily accept it at [email protected]

FAQ: Campaign Progress

While browsing the People First Creator Portal, questions may arise regarding your campaign’s content progress. Below you’ll find answers to the questions we get asked most about the process.

How long will it typically take to determine if my application for a campaign has been approved?

  • Wait times for approvals are subject to vary. In most cases, your application will be reviewed within 3 business days, but certain campaigns may require multiple rounds of approval. In these cases, campaign approval may take anywhere from 1-2 weeks. To find out how long it will take for your application to be reviewed, continue to chat with a People First Representative and we can provide you with a better estimate of when you can expect to hear back.

How long will it take for my draft content to be reviewed?

  • After you submit a draft of your content through the Creator Portal, it will undergo multiple rounds of review before it will be approved and sent back to the user. Please expect to wait 1-2 weeks for an update. We are aware that sometimes campaign sponsors will need more time to review content, and we will keep you posted if the wait time is longer than usual. To find out how long it will take for your content to be reviewed, continue to chat with a People First Representative and we can provide a better estimate of when you can expect to hear back.

I received an email that my content has been approved. How do I review my posting instructions?

  • If you’ve received notice that your content has been approved, be sure to review your posting instructions by clicking the campaign tile and opening up the chat with your People First Representative. Here, you will be able to find your approved caption and photo/video, as well as any additional steps needed for posting. Please note that there may have been modifications made to your caption, and we ask that you do not make changes to this caption after it has been approved. Additionally, some users will be approved to go live, but only after they have made minor edits to the photo or video. We ask that you make these changes first, and speak to your People First Representative if you’re unsure whether the edits are approved or need to undergo an additional rounds of approval. Failure to comply with the posting instructions may result in payment delays.

Does People First limit the number of campaigns I can apply to?

  • Yes, People First limits users to applying to 4 campaigns at any given time. The reason for this measure is because it allows our team the ability to process applications faster, and so that users can receive confirmation sooner about whether they are able to participate in the campaign. We hope that you take the time read the campaign description to determine of the opportunity is the right fit for you before applying. Additionally, we limit the number of applications so that users can space out their paid partnership opportunities on their feed, as our sponsors tend to value a high ratio of organic content!

I was approved for a campaign, but how soon do I need to submit my draft content?

  • Users that have been approved for campaigns are typically not asked to submit content by a specific deadline. People First knows that our community is busy, and we don’t want to rush perfection! Instead, we ask that you submit your content as soon as possible, with an optimal timeline of submitting content within 1 week of being approved. If you need an extension, just let us know! We will send reminders to submit content, just so the campaign doesn’t fall off your radar. Please note that failure to submit content within a reasonable time frame may result in being removed from the campaign. If you’re unsure when the campaign will officially close, please continue to speak to a People First Representative.

I have a question regarding my payout. Who can I get in touch with?

If you have a question regarding one of your payouts, you should email [email protected] to speak with a member of our finance team.

I am experiencing an issue with my campaign. Who can I get in touch with?

If you have a question regarding your submission, you’ll have the ability to chat with a People First Representative after you have submitted your draft content. If you need assistance immediately, you can contact the Director of Organizing at [email protected]

FAQ: Creator Payments

While browsing the People First Creator Portal, questions may arise regarding your payout. Below you’ll find answers we get asked the most:

Can payments be made to users based outside the United States?

People First does not typically offer campaigns that recruit creators from outside the United States. Therefore, it is best to confirm with your People First representative that you are indeed eligible to participate if you do not currently live in the US.

How can I receive payment if I do not have an SSN?

If you do not have a SSN (or EIN or ITIN), we will not be able to release payment to you directly on our platform.

Instead, you will need to be issued payment from the People First finance team after the partnership has been completed. The payment will be issued via Dots and you will be notified via Email or SMS when it’s ready to be collected.

Please note that anyone without an SSN (or EIN or ITIN) is unable to collect more than $600 in a calendar year.

What is Dots?

Dots is People First’s preferred payment platform. We use their API in conjunction with our website, the Creator Portal, so that payments to creators can be made seamlessly and easily. All you need is a phone number and to select where you’d like your payment to be sent.

Is Dots secure?

The short answer is yes. When deciding which payment platform to use, we selected Dots because they prioritize security above all else. To learn more about how they’re handling and storing sensitive data, see here

How is my payment issued?

Users on the Creator Portal are encouraged to update their payment information in the Payout Center. Here you will be prompted to enter your OTP code (sent to you via SMS or email). Then, you’ll be able to select one out of four different payment destinations by entering the credentials associated with your account.

You can choose to enter your Venmo, Paypal, Cashapp, or Bank Account information.

Please note you are required to enter your SSN, as this is required by law for identity verification. People First does not have access to this information.

Once this information is saved on the Creator Portal, you will have successfully integrated your account with Dots. Users can even sign into their own Dots account at any time by heading to dots.dev and signing with the phone number associated with your Creator Portal account.

Why am I not receiving the OTP code?

The OTP code is sent directly to the Email and SMS that’s saved on the Creator Portal.

If you aren’t receiving a text message, please troubleshoot using any of the following methods:

  • Be sure that your Creator Portal account accurately reflects your preferred email address and phone number.
  • VOIP numbers are restricted. This includes Google Voice numbers, or any other virtual phone numbers.
  • Restart your phone
  • Check that you have adequate cell service
  • Check for messages marked as spam. Some new phones may block automated messages that it thinks are spam
  • Disable and enable 5G service
  • Ensure that you are not on a roaming cell network. SMS messages often cannot be delivered while roaming

If you’re still unable to generate your OTP code, please contact [email protected] for assistance.

How soon will I receive my payment?

Payments are issued 10-15 business days following your post date. Payments that exceed $1500 may require a full 30 business days to be processed.

Please note we can only issue payment if all of the posting directions have been accurately followed. This is included, but not limited to:

  • Likes must be visible for reporting purposes
  • Comment section cannot be restricted
  • The paid partner has been adequately disclosed
  • Only the approved assets have been published

I am a domestic creator with an international bank account. How can I proceed with payment?

Users who only have bank accounts outside the United States must contact [email protected] to troubleshoot payment solutions.

How is my rate for a campaign determined?

Your campaign rate is determined by a number of different factors. We consider the campaign’s overall budget, the size of your Instagram following, and the average number of engagements your Instagram posts typically receive. This means the rates we offer creators will vary.

If you would like to discuss your rate with a People First representative, or provide any context as to why you’re negotiating a different rate, you can do so by clicking the campaign tile and selecting “Questions? Chat Now”.

How will I know if my negotiated rate has been accepted?

All users have the option to negotiate their suggested rate prior to submitting their application. In fact, all users are encouraged to share why you’re suggesting a different rate for the partnership using the “Questions? Chat Now” option. This insight helps as we review your application.

If your negotiated rate has been accepted, you will receive an Email or SMS verification that your application has been approved and you’re ready to start making content!

Alternatively, you may receive an Email or SMS notification from a People First representative if we’d like to counter your rate. If a new agreement regarding your rate can be made, your People First representative will override the payment agreement and your application will be approved.

To gather your approved rate for the partnership, click the campaign tile. Your rate is visible beneath the campaign’s description.

How can I negotiate my rate after I have been accepted to the campaign?

People First does not typically negotiate rates after you have been accepted for a campaign. If you would like to withdraw from the campaign, you can do so by clicking “Cancel Participation” under your campaign progress bar.

I need to contact someone regarding a payment inquiry.

Please email [email protected] if you have any questions. We kindly ask that you provide any context to your situation, including your campaign name, date you expected to receive payment, and any other information that you think would be helpful for us to know.

Meet the Team: Val Cheney

Creator Portal Update: Rating Creators

Hey Creators~ In an effort to strengthen relations between creators and People First organizers, we at People First will now be rating your campaign fulfillment! Don’t fret, it is an incredibly simple three-step rating process:

Upon completion of a campaign, the People First team will consider the following components in a composite 5-star rating:

  1. Rate the creators Campaign Quality out of 5 stars

This is where People First rates the amount of effort the creator put into making their post and how well they adhered to the campaign’s guidelines and requirements

  1. Rate the creator’s Communication Style out of 5 stars

This is where People First rates the creators’ professionalism and ability to submit content within a reasonable time frame

  1. Rate the creator’s Overall performance out of 5 stars

This is where People first rates how likely they are to work with this creator again in the future

This rating system was created with the intention of tracking the relationships between repeated creators and People First organizers. Any creator that satisfies the requirements of the campaign and responds regularly should receive 5-stars! Creators will not be able to view or modify their rating, as they are for internal use.

In the unlikely event that a creator receives two overall 1-star ratings, they will be ineligible to apply to future campaigns on the Creator Portal.
Keep an eye out for future updates as we may use these creator ratings to reward repeated creators with 5-star ratings!

Creator Portal Update: Join Us on Mobile

Looking to browse and apply to a People First campaign while you’re on the go? Great news, the Creator Portal is now available on any mobile device. Stay tuned for even more exciting updates in the coming weeks.

Creator Portal Update: The Referral Dashboard

Here at People First, we’re all digital relational organizers — including our members! This means that if you’re interested in helping find interested participants to join our campaigns, you’ll receive additional compensation.

Invite any of your friends, family members, neighbors, or co-workers to be a part of our community by sending them your custom referral link. Drop it in your group chats, post it to your Instagram story, or leave it in your Facebook groups so that others can quickly sign up.

To access your link, visit “My Profile.”  On the left-hand side, click “Referral Dashboard.” Copy your referral link and forward it directly to those who you think would be interested in participating in a campaign with People First. If your referral is accepted to join the campaign & goes live with their content, you will receive anywhere from $25-$100 per referral!

Please note, you will receive compensation after your referral goes live with their content. This payout will be accessible to you in the Payout Center.

Creator Tip: Payments

Do you have questions about payouts on the Creator Portal? Here are our tips when it comes to receiving payment quickly and easily:

  • Tip 1: Update the Payout Center on your Creator Profile
    • Now that we’ve streamlined payments through the Creator Portal, it’s very important to make sure all of your information in the payout center is correct and updated with the correct bank account/debit card and the last 4 digits of your social. This information is verified by the IRS and payment on the Creator Portal could be restricted if it’s not accurate. In some cases, Stripe might request extra information for verification, e.g. identity document or your full SSN. Once these are verified, your account should be all set for payment!
  • Tip 2: Get Paid After Publishing Your Content
    • Once you have received approval & instructions for posting your content, you should go ahead and post your content as soon as possible! Never post your content before receiving explicit approval from a People First Representative.
    • From there, publish the link to your live content on the Creator Portal. Please ensure that you are submitting the link to your post, and not your profile. Once this link has been submitted, a People First Representative will review your post to ensure that you have posted only the approved assets, and followed all of the instructions for posting.
    • From there, you can expect to receive payment within 10-15 business days. Please allow an additional 1-2 days for the payout to hit your bank account.
    • Failure to follow instructions for posting may lead to payment delays, so please ensure you’re reviewing your directions carefully.
  • Tip 3: Determining your Rate
    • When applying to a new campaign, all creators have the option to suggest an alternative rate for the partnership.
    • The rate that is recommended to you varies across campaigns, as this rate is determined by the campaign’s budget, as well as your following size and the number of engagements you typically receive on each post. Keep in mind that People First offers competitive rates for creators with smaller followings, but higher engagement rates.
    • A People First Representative will contact you via email or SMS if we believe your profile is a fit for the campaign, but we would like to negotiate a different rate for your partnership.
    • If you and your People First Representative can come to an agreement about your rate, your application will likely be approved and you’ll be able to continue on with the partnership!
    • Please keep in mind that People First is a micro-influencer agency, and we may not be able to accommodate rates for macro-influencers.
  • Tip 5: Apply to Campaigns that Apply to You!
    • People First offers a variety of political and commercial campaigns that source creators from all backgrounds. However, some campaigns are limited to people of a certain age, race, gender, or region. Additionally, some campaigns may even require a People FIrst representative to confirm specific aspects about your circumstances, such as whether you’re a parent to a child between the ages of 10-14, or have experience cooking Keto meals! Be on the lookout for those emails, as we’ll need to hear from you first before we can approve your application.

Creator Portal Update: Campaign Limits

Hey creators~

People First is constantly updating the Creator Portal to give our community of content-creators the best user-experience possible. We appreciate your patience and feedback over the last several months!

One of our latest updates places a restriction on the number of campaigns in which creators can apply. Currently, this limit is set to a total of four campaigns. That is to say if you have applied to four campaigns already, you will need to wait until your profile has been reviewed and it has been confirmed that you’re a fit before applying to more campaigns. Fortunately, there is no restriction on the number of campaigns you can be approved for at any given time.

Why have we pivoted to limiting the number of applications? Here at People First, it’s important to us that creators are applying to campaigns in which they’re drawn to, as opposed to applying to campaigns in bulk. All of our campaigns offer a description that provides some preliminary background information on the campaign, and gives you, the creator, a sense of who the ideal candidate is. Please take the time to read these descriptions carefully, as you may find that some campaigns are not a match for you. Additionally, this restriction helps you, the creator, give your feed some breathing room, away from having too many sponsored posts.

We hope this change is something that helps our creator community, and allows interested applicants a faster turn around to confirm whether or not you have been approved to participate. As always, we look forward to reviewing your applications and seeing what you come up with!

Creator Tip: Finding a Niche

Hey there creators!

As our creator portal platform continues to expand and build, we have a new tip:

Creators should focus on their own niche, and really read through all the available campaigns we have when applying to our opportunities. So remember: Only apply to campaigns that apply to you! This not only helps with progressing the speed of your application, but makes it easier for communication between agents and creators.

Make sure you are reading through all the guidelines for your account to have when filling out an application, and being fair with the pricing negotiation. An unfair pricing negotiation can really ruin your opportunity for a campaign you could be a perfect fit for!

Thanks for reading, and hope to see you on the creator portal!

Creator Tip: Things to Get You Started

What’s up, creator community?

At People First, we’re so excited to have launched our Creator Portal! On the new website, creators like yourself can apply for multiple campaigns, submit content, and get paid-all in the same place! Like most things, change can take some getting used to and can even be confusing at times! We want all creators to be able to have a smooth experience on the Creator Portal, so here are some tips and tricks!

  • Tip 1: Log onto the Creator Portal from a desktop or laptop
    • Currently, the Creator Portal is best suited for computer devices. Don’t worry though! We understand that as creators, you may use mobile devices a lot to create your content. A mobile version is on the way!
  • Tip 2: Apply for campaigns for consideration
    • At People First, we love talking about our current campaigns! You may hear about them via email or on social media to keep you informed. If there’s one that piques your interest, head over to the Creator Portal to apply! You’ll know that your application has been fully completed once you see “Application Under Review” on your screen.
  • Tip 3: Patience is key!
    • The content submission process can take some time! Once you’ve uploaded your content to the Creator Portal, your content will then be sent to the client for review. Please note that this process can take up to a couple of weeks! We haven’t forgotten about you! Someone will be in touch with you once your content and caption are approved with the next steps to go live!
